About the project

At Embrace Diversity, we believe that every young person, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to explore, socialize, and engage with the world around them. Our Holistic and Post-Secondary programs offer regular outings designed to promote independence, social interaction, and personal growth. However, accessibility remains a challenge, limiting the participation of some individuals who require wheelchair-accessible transportation. With funding, we aim to remove these barriers by securing specialized transport, ensuring that all our members can join these outings without limitations. Beyond accessibility, we also seek to enhance the quality and variety of our outings, offering participants richer, more engaging experiences. Our goal is to create memorable and meaningful outings that broaden horizons and encourage social inclusion. By supporting this project, you will help us provide safe, enjoyable, and truly inclusive experiences that empower youth with disabilities to embrace life beyond their daily routines.

Project Deliverables

  1. Wheelchair-Accessible Transportation – Secure specialized transport to ensure all participants, including those using wheelchairs, can attend outings safely and comfortably.

  2. Increased Outing Opportunities – Expand the number and variety of outings, offering more engaging experiences. Some notable outings Embrace have organised so far are attending inclusive ‘Ziguzajg’ performances, Wildlife rehabilitation centre experience, cinema outings, grocery shopping, beach cleaning and more.

  3. Enhanced Inclusivity and Participation – Ensure that all members of the Holistic and Post-Secondary programs can fully participate in outings without mobility barriers.

  4. Improved Social and Life Skills – Foster independence, communication, and teamwork through interactive and community-based experiences.

  5. Community Awareness and Inclusion – Promote understanding and inclusion by increasing the visibility and participation of youth with disabilities in public spaces and events.

Project Beneficiaries

This project will directly benefits children and youths enrolled in Embrace Diversity’s Holistic and Post-Secondary programs, ensuring they have equal opportunities to participate in community outings. Our members have a range of physical, intellectual, and sensory disabilities, and many rely on wheelchair-accessible transportation to engage in social and recreational activities.

Indirectly, this project will also support families and caregivers by providing their loved ones with safe and enriching experiences that foster independence, social skills, and personal development. Additionally, the wider community will benefit from greater inclusion and awareness, as our outings promote interaction and understanding between individuals with disabilities and society at large.
